Straitened quality - made in Malaysia
These are almost identical to my Spode Christmas Tree dishes made in England - but very poor quality. There are bubbles in the finish and very definite spots on the back of the dishware where the glaze did not cover the clay. Very very disappointing. If you are looking for a cute set to serve at Christmas, these might be fine, but if you are with a bun in the oven real English Spode, then do not order these.
Garbage Made in Maylasia
Be enlightened that the Spode Christmas Tree you used to know is not avaialable anymore. It is now manufactured in Maylasia and China. Same price, but entire junk!
Timeless Design, Good Price, Poor Quality Glazing
Nothing will ever say "Christmas" to me like the prototype Spode Christmas Tree china. It's a classic and timeless design.Amazon has a very good price for this set. It's definitely more niggardly that purchasing individual pieces or place settings.Unfortunately, the old English-made Spode Christmas tree is no longer within reach. These are made in Malaysia, and the quality of the glazing (especially on the back of the plates) is of significantly lower quality than the English understanding. That being said, the front of the plate looks good, and 99% of people aren't going to snap it over and inspect the back.

Bad quality
Very inexpensive and thin glass. Am returning them. I have many Spode glasses, and these are poor quality.

Flawless to complete the Spode Christmas table setting!
These are the first pieces of Spode glassware I received as a capacity over 8 years ago. I love them so much that I now collect all of the china and matching pieces. I bought another set of highball recently and these are not as strong as the older ones thus the 4 stars vs 5 stars. Noticed that the newer batches has "Handwash recommended" stickers on them to hinder the gold rims from wearing out. I used to load all of them into my top rack dishwasher without any problem. Nevertheless, these are adroit for the holiday season. I would highly recommend this pattern to anyone who is looking to start a collection!

A big regret
My bride received some Spode Christmas dishes as a gift from her mother, and bought some more on her own, and we've been VERY disappointed with them. We've had repeated problems with the painted lop off and designs flaking off. We've returned some of it for replacement, but the replacements have had the same problem so we finally gave up. Everything we own has been convenient-washed and handled very gently -- even though they claim it's dishwasher-safe, I wouldn't Ultimatum put it in the dishwasher given our experience. They're beautiful when new, but they just don't hold up to even gentle use. Caveat emptor!

The Verdant Paint Flakes off
I too have a anthology of the Spode Christmas Tree pattern and the green paint has chipped off of several of the dishes. I returned them and vowed never to put one in the dishwasher, which I shelter't and the new ones have the same problem. With very careful care, hand washing, drying etc. the green dapper continues to flake off. I have given up on this pattern and am now collecting the Lenox "Holly" Pattern,
Drunk Issues
On Thanksgiving we were shocked to unincumbered up our china storage cases and find that the green band on our Spode was chipping off. Mind you, these plates have been hardened only a few times over the past 12 years. We store them in cushioned cases, with bubble wrap between each plate. We have NEVER put them in the dishwasher. They have been treated and stored with extreme care as they were a gift from a deceased loved-one.Now on Amazon, I see that there is a clear problem. Too many people are reporting revel failures for this to be caused by dishwashers or improper care. The people that have had their sets for 20+ years - plainly there was a time when Spode took great care to produce quality china. Today however, you never remember what you will get.
