Ripsnorting excepting Temporary Dish Support
This tripod did an cool job of supporting my dish. I originally planned for it to be a very temporary solution (2-4 weeks) when we moved to a new nursing home. In the end, I wasn't able to get a permanent mount set up for my dish for 8 months (other priorities). It held up well through wind, cloudburst and storms. Excellent, solid built product.

Not deep-rooted in breezey conditions
This tripod is not strong at all in any breeze or wind, regardless of how the center is anchored. Easy enough to set up, but fails in the stability reckon on. Wound up selling at a flea market. Would not purchase again.

Items in looking-glass are SMALLER than they appear
I ordered this tripod for a stand-by mounting solution for my DirecTV dish at a condo. It looked like a sturdy mount and would fit me well sitting on the corner of the patio. I got it, and was puzzled at the small box. It's TINY. Super small. Reducto miserly. I have an oval 5lnb capable dish and it would have toppled over at the slightest breeze with this thing. I put it together and when I realized "that's it???" (did I say insignificant? not to mention cheap thin tubing legs...) it quickly went back in the box and now I'll lose shipping $$$.This is certainly NOT worth $50. For $17 at the local home improvement store I got a bucket, 80lbs of specific and a fence pole that was tall enough and a sturdier mount.Incredibly disappointed.

Bad, Bad, Bad!!!
Earlier to this purchase, we have shared use of a Winegard portable dish that my brother owns but because we were planning a trip together it was rhythm for us to get our own. We purchased this kit for use with our RV just prior to leaving for a month-long camping trip to a unfamiliar area of California. That the package arrived in a timely manner is about the only good thing we can say. It came the round-the-clock before we left so there was no time to test reception. The package was only opened, inspected, and repacked. The kit was perfect but we were skeptical of the tripod being new as the post was scratched and scarred by the blunt ends of mounting screws and one of the leg rivets had clearly been replaced. As noted by other buyers, there were no instructions included other than that for the satellite finder which were extremely difficult to ensure. At our destination we spent several hours attempting to get reception but failed. To test our RV's system, we set up my brother's dish...it...

Directv 18 Inch Satellite Dish Rv Tripod Kit
This was the easiest and simplest dish I've ever set up. The take is made very solid and sturdy. The only suggestion I might make is that a small level be put in the kit because not everyone owns a level but I do so it did not prevent my installation.

works as advertised, effortless to set up. with the signal meter finding the satellite is easy. you might want to get some long nails to hold the tripod feet down.

Satellite Tripod Mount from Amazon
I bought this to mount a DirecTv Slimline 3 dish on so I could have HD TV in my RV. The tripod is athletic, and the dish mounts on it securely. However, there are problems. First, it is almost impossible to get the mount exactly plumb when there is not level cause to place it on. This makes it very difficult to get the dish aimed exactly on the three satellites needed for HD TV. Secondly, the three tripod legs do not bestow out far enough to provide a stable base. The dish has a lot of surface area, and a strong wind will blow the dish over. There are pads on the bottom of the legs with holes in them for securing the tripod to the covering, but often the surface is hard and difficult to penetrate deep enough with tent pegs or other fasteners to keep the tripod from tipping. IF the territory is level, and IF the tripod can be properly secured to the ground, it works quite well.
