Unequalled Temporary Dish Support
This tripod did an distinguished job of supporting my dish. I originally planned for it to be a very temporary solution (2-4 weeks) when we moved to a new well-informed in. In the end, I wasn't able to get a permanent mount set up for my dish for 8 months (other priorities). It held up well through wind, rain and storms. Omit, solid built product.

Not steady in breezey conditions
This tripod is not secure at all in any breeze or wind, regardless of how the center is anchored. Easy enough to set up, but fails in the stability branch. Wound up selling at a flea market. Would not purchase again.

Items in echo are SMALLER than they appear
I ordered this tripod for a transitory mounting solution for my DirecTV dish at a condo. It looked like a sturdy mount and would suit me well sitting on the locale of the patio. I got it, and was puzzled at the small box. It's TINY. Super small. Reducto small. I have an ellipsoidal 5lnb capable dish and it would have toppled over at the slightest breeze with this thing. I put it together and when I realized "that's it???" (did I say tiny? not to insinuate cheap thin tubing legs...) it quickly went back in the box and now I'll lose shipping $$$.This is of course NOT worth $50. For $17 at the local home improvement store I got a bucket, 80lbs of clear-cut and a fence pole that was tall enough and a sturdier mount.Incredibly disappointed.

Only one gripe
I've had my eye on this output since early last year, but at the time I could only afford a manually adjusted portable dish. So over the course of the year, I've fought tooth and pin with trying to zero in on the satellite signal, sometimes with no luck at all. All of the other reviews raving this product are correct: Within 15 minutes of removing the VuQube from the box, I had my DirecTv up and ceaseless. Now that the Qube has the general satellite position stored in its remote, future setups shouldn't take more than 5 minutes max.My prime problem with the manual portable dishes is finding a level surface to place it on - not an foolproof task out in the wild. Without being level, the elevation might be "set" right but physically will be off. The with VuQube, it self levels locally! I breathe in an apartment complex with alot of tree's and it seems like the clearest shot towards the sky is if i mount my dish on a leaving no stone unturned to were the dish is almost at ground level.

I checked and California law allows us to mount a satellite dish on our estate. Our homeowners association can't tell us we can't have a dish because of the looks. If we have a view of the Southern Sky from our property we can have a satellite.
Plain solution for you. Get a 6 block non-pen mount. These are the types you see sitting on flat roofs of businesses. They are a condition that is held down by gravity alone (6 cinder blocks).
