    Description

The 5.8GHz wireless video/audio sender consists of one transmitter and one recipient. This device transmits wirelessly vivid video and hi-fi stereo sound from a VCR, TV set, LD, DVD, VCD, Satellite Receiver or strand set top box to any TV or monitor. It can also be used in conjunction with a camcorder or CCD camera and turns into a wireless security monitoring system. As to the communication capability, the signal can go up to 400 feet clear light-of-sight and even penetrate bulkhead. With the built-in IR remote extender, it allows the user to remotely control the audio/video sources in the other rooms.
The average where it hurts entertainment system once consisted of a TV, stereo, and maybe a cable box. Now a modern system may also include a DVD player, satellite recipient, surround sound amplifier, digital video recorder, and an HD tuner, along with a PC designed to provide as a digital hub for certain audio/video functions. The RF Link AVS-5811 takes A/V technology to the next reasonable step by wirelessly transmitting audio and video signals from these components to any nearby TV, CRT, or stereo system, letting you enjoy vivid video and hi-fi stereo sound anywhere in the house. The A/V sender emotively lets you send signals to components located upstairs, several rooms away, or elsewhere without on-going bulky, space-consuming cables in the walls or under the floorboards. With the AVS-5811, viewers can examine simultaneous DVD or satellite programming on upstairs and downstairs TVs, or listen to their favorite tunes on stereos in three strange rooms--all without wires. They can also use the sender to watch live video from a camcorder or CCD camera in a obscure location, whether for security or entertainment purposes. Users who edit video or capture footage from TV programs on their computers will also find plentifulness to like about the device, as they can easily send the video from their Macs or PCs directly to a living leeway TV for viewing.

The AVS-5811 comes with a 5.8 GHz wireless transmitter and a receiver with four selectable channels. Dissimilar to more common 2.4 GHz transmitters, the AVS-5811 doesn't share a band with Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, 801.11b wireless LAN networks, and microwave ovens, ensuring a vitriolic, interference-free video signal. The four channels are also a bonus, as it lets users set up multiple transmitters and receivers in the same arrondissement without cross-channel noisiness. In addition, the sender includes a built-in IR remote extender that rudder components from a distance, so a user can mute the bedroom TV while relaxing on the living room sofa, for exemplar. The sender features an NTSC/PAL video system and transmits to distances as great as 400 feet without obstructions. It's also somewhat compact at 6.5 by 4.13 by 10.5 inches (W x H x D).

    What's in the Box
Transmitter, receiver, two A/V RCA cables, two AC power adapters, IR mouse (outlying extender), user's manual.

5 stars all the way!!! Superb electronics gadget ever!!
I'm a hi-tech appliance guy who is hard to please, but this far exceeded my expectations! I have it connected from a bedroom Directv Receiver(6" from a 2.4GHZ wireless PC lan) to a cookhouse 15" Magnanox LCD TV sitting 12" below a micrwave oven without interference from microwave or lan! I'm even transmitting through 6 walls and a 5 gal. metal potato hew a contribute bucket and people walking in the kitchen without affecting the picture! I was getting a super display w/o even having 1 antenna directly facing the other antenna. I thought I was going to have to run between floors for hours until everything was linked perfectly - it only took 15 seconds because alignment is very forgiving. Picture quality is 5 distinguished crystal clear with no lines, static, etc. All TV channels are 5 star and the HDTV stations blew me to a different place even though I know its not sending true HDTV though the avs-5811.What surprised me most was that I could use my bedroom Directv obscure (down in the kitchen) to change channels...
Surpass Wireless A/V Sender out there...If it works for you.
I have an HP Windows Media Forefront PC and wanted a wireless A/V solution to enjoy the media content on my PC. I wanted to send the timer from my PC in my bedroom to my living room where I could hook up the audio to my home theatre system, (to enjoy the digital music and precise sound from recorded shows), and the video to my TV, (to watch movies, pictures, home videos, and TV shows I recorded on my PC). I end in a condo and I tried (2) other 2.4GHz Wireless A/V senders, (The Radioshack model and a offshoot I got from Best Buy), before I arrived at this gem. With the 2.4GHz A/V devices I got a lot of interference from my neighbor's wireless routers, microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc., which run on the 2.4GHz freq. band. The results I got were unsatisfactory and I was very disappointed that my vision seemed impractical. When I skilled of this product which operates on the 5.8GHz band my hope was renewed. Going up to 5.8 GHz made all the diff. for me as this freq...
    A number picture
I installed this output so that I can share my High Definition Comcast DVR in the first floor familiy room with another TV (standard meaning) in upstairs bedroom. I was originally thinking of getting the 2.4 GHz Radio Shack produce but the local Radio Shack store recommended against it (too much interference with Wi-Fi, etc.). I have 2.4 GhZ 804.11G wireless network and a 900 Hz cordless phone. The stiffness between transmitter and sender is approximately 50 feet with 3 walls, a staircase and a floor beween. All house is standard wooden - no brick walls.Getting the Video was a snap - did not require any unambiguous alignment of antennas. Excellent picture. Getting the remote working was a bit of a hassle. After a lot of experimentation, I found out that the IR timer is too strong and it was temporarily "blinding" my DVR. After moving the unit a bit away from the DVR, the remote works superbly. (Product manual does not have any info on this).I also...

Hit or Pass over, worth a try...
Seems like a adept idea to avoid unsightly (and potentially -if you have an elderly dependent- dangerous) long wires. So I gave it a try.The entity is very well and solidly built (if a bit bulky), and a snap to set up. Plug the base unit into an electrical clog close to your main phone line, and run a phone cable from the phone line to the post unit. Do the same with the sattelite unit, and connect the phone to the satellite unit - you are done. You will get dial tone. What will depend a lot on your wiring, I take, is sound quality. It was horrid in my environment - heavy static, a very loud and variable grounding noise and muffled voice to top it off. It was unusable in that environment. I don't blame the product - I am sure it depends a lot on how the wires run in a set up. Seems worth a try, even though it didn't work for me.
    Works Abundant!
I am using it for my Directv Sat recipient and it works perfectly. I can now order movies without going online or calling Directv. Straightforward to install, took me about 5 minutes.
    Works as advertised
I've been bothersome to figure out how to get the fax part of my Dell all-in-one printer working, since it was no where near a phone jack, and this wireless jack fit the bill. I followed the directions plugging the secure unit into an electrical outlet near my landline, plugging the line into the jack as well as the arrive line. I then plugged the extension unit into an outlet near my printer/fax unit. The with light turned green (signifying that it found the base unit signal). I first plugged a phone into it to see if I was getting a dial colouring. There was a buzz on the line, but I did hear the dial tone. I have read some other reviews complaining about immobile on the line, and with the buzz I heard I'm not sure I would want to use this for another phone line, but when I plugged my fax into this and ran a investigation, it worked great...no complaints! Both units are not too large, and I am happy to now have gotten the fax working! The directions said not to promotion the units into GFI...

    Exceptional Solution. Highly Reccomended
MY progenitor recently remodelled his home, and had all the electronics hard wired behind the walls. It's a real cleanse installaltion, however all the equipment (reciever, cable, DVD, CD etc) are all out of infrared range. After figuring out he needed a comprehensive remote, as well as needing r/f capability, the search was on for his christmas present. I had a lot of trouble finding a universaal tramontane that would set up easily for him, has well as have the R/F capability. In the end, i opted for the infrared remote i really wanted, and the x-10 system. the leapfrog system appeared to have a few bad reviews, and i figured spending the reserve money might make the difference (only like $10)Turned out to be a great decision. I was worried about the system b/c the front of all the components in the media closet are very close to the door. I purchased 2 extra extender eyes (puff into the back of the R/F recieving unit, and can be stuck right on the I/R...
    Works where others don't
I tried other units that population said worked great, but where they got away with a lesser unit, for me, the Powermid was only one that worked reliably.First, I tried the RadioShack #15-2550 which has the same imbroglio that others have identified with the Terk Technologies LF-IRX and that relates to range and accuracy. If you can position your remote-recipient close (5-6 ft away) in a location that you point at straight on, then these lesser units may adjoin your requirements. In my case I am trying to hit both the IR extender and my projector (which are perhaps 20 degrees a part) from 10-15 feet. The Powermid module worked flawlessly, first time, in every location of my room.On the other hand, I tried the RadioShack constituent in some 6 locations and never got it to work consistently unless I stood 4 feet away from it and shot my outside straight at it. Much like a Amazon review of the Terk unit on 9/28/04 by Matt.Another better of the Powermid is that each...
    Works extensive multi-room too
I by a hair's breadth wanted to throw in my 2 cents. Most of the reviews I have read about the Powermid are where someone put their A/V gear in a closet in the next dwelling or in the basement directly below the living room. These weren't very helpful to me in solving my problem. I hanker after to control my TiVo in the living room from my bedroom. The bedroom is about 45' away from the living allowance, and there is a right angle in the hallway connecting the two rooms. The radio signal has to penetrate no less than 3 walls to reach the recipient.I read such glowing reviews of the Powermid, I thought I might as well give it a try. It probably couldn't be any worse than the IR/Air repeater set I paid about 25% more for at Radio Shack. The Radio Shack unit was sickeningly unreliable, had to be positioned and repositioned and I would have to hold the remote at a funny angle right in front of the transmitter to get it to occupation. And then it was intermittent at best. The Powermid works...

X-10 POWERMID Remote Control Extender Kit - Model 5900

Works where others don't : Works very well. My transmitter sits on the clothe below my Lcd and the recipient is on the top shelf in a ministry with my A/V paraphernalia. The recipient is cheerful compared with my accommodation situate and I found that tilting the Powermid toward me improved performance from a longer detachment. The other neg is that it is not a legitimate crave aloofness actress. At least from slight authority to transmitter. I could set the transmitter earlier to me and it worked ripping but I never could...
