Horrible gadget for the home cook.
If you receive your own stocks, or home made soups, this item will save you time. Makes skimming stocks a easy. The product is well made, the rubberized handle is great for tapping on the edge of the pot to get the liquid to pass though so it doesn't end up on the planking as you make your way to the sink. Should last for years and years with proper care.

More Than Decent a Skimmer...
I do a lot of heated and have always had difficulty getting a nice, thin layer of flour on the surface if I needed to roll dough out or proceed b conform bread. When I saw the Calphalon Stainless Skimmer - with its lifetime warranty - I thought it might work for my purposes. What a wonderful find! I can put some flour onto the top of the skimmer and then mildly tap its edge. The result is an even, light dusting of flour on my work surface and a lot less mess than using other methods.Further, when I am done working on the skin I can use a scraper to gather up the excess flour. Then I put it on the skimmer again and gently sift out any dough scraps so that I can reuse the dusting flour when I destitution to flour another work surface. Although some may balk at my recycling flour, when the price got so high several years ago, I determined it wasn't economical to throw out the remaining dusting flour.I also found this skimmer ideal for turning bagels during the boiling alter...

I bought this skimmer less than a month ago so that I could fish greens out of the not wash lavishly after I blanched them. For the most part, it works well (but then, it's a big flattish scoop with large slits that drains stuff - it's rather hard to mess that up.) It's lightweight and feels comfortable in my hand, and it won't scratch your cookware.However, it has a "destructive flaw".The whole thing feels very flimsy when you're using it, and under a full load, the handle is just way too flaccid and flexy - it feels like it's going to snap at any minute. Not good.Also, the silicone manipulate insert is starting to separate from the body of the handle.Yesterday I cooked up a big pot of stock with several survival turkey carcasses, and decided that I needed something much more sturdy for the job. I went to my local Trendy and Hideously Overpriced Kitchen Store, and bought the Mario Batali Skimmer instead...

As expected from Calphalon
A significant skimmer from Calphalon. Used it quite a few times from Skimming fat from Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup to pulling pasta from hot not wash lavishly. Love it and do recommend to family and friends. Great hold anywhere and stay cool pat.
