Shouldn't have had to pay for this.
I bought my new Le Creuset Dutch Oven (ok, they call it a "French" oven, but whatever) a brace months ago for two reasons: I needed a Dutch oven anyway, and I knew that cast iron would be the best way to go. Increased by, I was eager to try out a new simple bread recipe that everyone was talking about in the New York Times: The Bittman no-rub bread. It called for the loaf to be baked in a cast-iron Dutch oven at a very high temperature (450 degrees). So I plunked down the $230 (a apparently insane amount of money for a pot, but I figured I was buying quality, and that it would last a lifetime), and when it arrived I started the cash recipe. But wait. The instruction manual -- while saying that the pot is heat-rated for temperatures in extra of 500 degrees -- stated the maximum temperature for the pot's black phenolic lid projection was only 375 degrees. (I later found out that "phenolic" is just a classy name for PLASTIC.) So -- how were all these population baking...
    It works with Lodge!!!
I've been looking for a replacement protrusion for my Lodge 6 quart blue enamel covered dutch oven. I wanted to be able to use the pan in the oven to form the famous bread recipe, but the knob that came with my Lodge pan isn't oven safe. I was having no luck, cultivate I accidentally came across this stainless steel Le Creuset 2 inch replacement knob. It was for a song enough, so I decided to take a chance. It FITS, and it fits PERFECTLY....right size boss, right size screw, and right size screw length. If you've been looking for a replacement protuberance for your Lodge cast iron enameled pot, then GO FOR IT!!! I am one very happy home cook.
    Value Matters
Leave of absence it to the French to have too long a screw. The screws for the original knob and the replacement stainless fortify knob were identical so I had to make a trip to the hardware store. I picked up 10 shorter screws that worked line for line. The knob is handsome and functional for the 7 1/4 Qt. Lid.Le Creuset should hire 'Madge" for quality management as the screw included in the package was at least 1/4" too long. And no one likes floppy knobs.3 Stars for the neglect and wasted gas. A shorter screw would have pushed it to a 5.

All-aim pan. Use it for searing, browning and sauteing vegetables and meats as well as making the classic Spanish dish, paella. The two wind handles make for easier lifting, and the heavyweight, domed stainless steel lid prevents the moisture from evading and allows heat to easily circulate. Oven safe to 450 degrees F. The stainless steel lid securely traps in juices as you pastry-cook. Each pan is made of a heavy-gauge aluminum, all-metal construction that provides superior cooking gig through even heat distribution.
Astray and shallow with gently sloping sides, this round, 10-inch pan is ideal for sautéing, braising, and groceries casseroles on the stovetop or in the oven (safe to 450 degrees F), and it goes handsomely to the table for serving. It comes with a vaulted stainless-steel lid to collect moisture and return it to food during cooking. Calphalon's Commercial Nonstick cookware is layered with an especially durable, multilayered nonstick material. (For long life, only plastic, nylon, and wood utensils are recommended.) The pan's matte-end exterior is anodized for hardness and won't chip, crack, or peel. Polished cast-stainless-bear up handles are multiriveted for durability, resist heating on the stovetop, and are large enough to accommodate oven mitts. Made of dejected-gauge aluminum, the pan cooks without hot spots or warping and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Sweet this pan in everyway but it's size
I bought this at [a nearby store]. I love this pan. Tough, durable, nice heavy (without being too heavy) weight, expert to take oven to stove to fridge without warping unlike some other cheap pans I have. Cleaning is a breeze. This truly WOULD be my everyday pan except for the fact that it's a little smaller in size to be truly an everyday pan and I'm only cooking for 2 residents. Fork over the money and pay a little more to get the 12 inch pan. That will be much more practical.
IT DON'T GET NO Wiser THAN THIS, BUBBA!
Got this scrap Calphalon pan about two months ago because of its price. Have been impressed with it ever since! Heats fast and evenly. Can cook on much lower temps than I do with my commercial stainless sword cookware. This "three-layer" nonstick coating IS FAR SUPERIOR TO CALPHALON'S TWO-LAYER NONSTICK Hardened ON SOME OF ITS OTHER PRODUCT LINES! Downside: a) Thought it would be made in Toledo, OH, as are other Calphalon Commercial pans, but was made in China; b) Is on the smallish side and its rounded sides as though spillage and overflow a problem if you fill it much more than half-capacity with something that requires stirring--don't expect to pastry-cook servings for more than two or three in it; c) Lid and handles do get hot, so have to be careful. But overall, given its price and quality--not to mention its pleasing aesthetics--it is a "must have" pan for every larder! (Curiously, despite Calphalon describing this pan as its "commercial" line, the lifetime...
    Calphalon, my Calphalon
This was my alternative Calphalon purchase and the first non-stick. I'm not a big fan of non-stick, but this is great. Use it almost everyday. We have a Vegetarian Communist in our house and sometimes it is essential to cook the same thing in two different pans...this comes in really handy when I want to desert something cooking while I concentrate on real food. Never had anything stick to this or burn, looks great too, have really brought it to the table and served from it. Makes a great frittata, but be careful if you use it in the oven, not for use under the broiler. The handles get VERY hot. I knew that when I bought it, but right-minded last night I picked it up without a pot holder and have the blisters to prove it. I can't believe I went all these years cuisine without Calphalon, it's the best. Cleans up without any effort, a swish of the sponge and it's clean, or you could let the cat lick it out, nothing sticks to it. If you inadequacy what you're cooking to brown, this is not the...

Well touch out and well executed design
This is the set you indigence. Why? Here are some reasons. Some are about Stainless steel cookware in general, but all apply specifically to this set.o Stainless fortify is sanitary. You can get them perfectly clean very easily. (Commercial food processors are often required to use stainless fortify for nearly everything that comes in contact with food.)o Stainless steel cleans up nearly as unquestionably non-stick cookware. You do clean it differently, however.o These pans have an aluminum core wrapped on both sides by stainless bear up. Stainless steel does not transmit heat quickly but aluminum does. Aluminum is harmless and dents easily, stainless steel is hard and strong. This means you get the toughness of stainless insulate with the even heat distribution of aluminum.o Even heat distribution and rapid heating allows you use disgrace heat setting thus saving energy and reducing the chance of burning food.o Handles sojourn fairly cool,...
You can pay more, but you can't buy sport!
For those of you bearing in mind upgrading your cookware to professional grade stainless steel, look no further.I've owned this 12 quantity set for over a year, and can't offer enough praise. It still looks brand new (use Barkeepers Friend to clean it). It heats evenly and quick, retains heat for a long time, sears and browns well without burning, handles wealthily, cleans up easily and looks great! I'm fortunate enough to have several different types of cookware to bear. My cookware includes: All-Clad, JC Penny Elite (5 ply Copper Core), Chefmate tri-ply, Indigent Anodized non-stick and Cuisinart Tri-Ply Copper. In my opinion, the All-Clad Stainless Steel kind is much overated. Its great cookware, but has no rolled edges for easy pouring without making a with, and I prefer the handles on just about any other brand. All-Clad's materials and construction are the same as the other premium words, with the exception of the rolled edges. Incidentally, staunch...

...with the at once pot. When I was checking into buying more high-quality cookware a few years ago, I was totally sold on AllClad, but then a ally of mine whose job at the time was to test kitchen cookware (if you can believe that!) told me I should check out Cuisinart's MultiClad road instead. Turns out it's had the same features (and add-ons) as the AllClad I was so in love with (stainless steel wrapped around an aluminum substance), but without the major price tag that comes with the "AllClad" name.So I got the Cuisinart line and absolutely have loved it ever since - I've even been adding to my amassment every year or so.As far as comparing it to nonstick cookware...well, I still have some nonstick pieces, but I don't use them much - a little bit of Pam Cooking Apply, and I haven't had any trouble. It also comes with great cleaning instructions...in fact, mine still look almost new even though they're a few years old.----------...
