This design allows you to extend the range of your remote controls and stick all those ugly components in a cubicle or basement. There is a little receiver that sends the infrared signal from the remote to wires that are of interest to your equipment in a cabinet or other remote location.I bought this so I could put a satellite box, vhs and dvd player in a cabinet, out of sight in the bedroom. The IR recipient is quite sensitive and the whole system worked like a charm with very little setup time. A lot of A/V pros rely on by this system.NOTE, many plasmas/LCD's emit a lot of IR (infrared radiation) which can interfere with the functioning of the typical IR extender. I have no awareness what other people are complaining about. This is idiot proof. The cords were plenty long. Customer help A+. The unit is so sensitive that you almost have to put it behind a speaker grill to cut out IR noise. What more do you want. Measure your runs before you purchase and if neccessary order some extensions.

Correctly As Advertised
My old Dish Network remotes had been infuriating to fail for months. When I found these replacements on Amazon, I was a little skeptical, because the price was 10% of what Dish Network wants for the same artefact. Couple that with the seller's offer of "two for one" and I found the deal too hard to pass up. I ordered two of the remotes, figuring that, for the bounty I could throw them away if they didn't work. As advertised, however, the remotes arrived in short discipline -- not two, but four of them -- and were in perfect remanufactured condition and worked perfectly. I now have new remotes, as well as a pair of spares in case the dog gets into them. I am very pleased. The product is exactly what I needed. The product works as advertised, and the behave was too good to pass up.

Yeessss.... Worked with my Dish DVR 510 recipient
Programming was a agony but it works. I wish all the tabs were included (see that green tab? google the remote - they refer to whether it is a IR or UHF or IR/UHF slight - I would have been better off with a IR/UHF this is an IR, green tab #1).Under "system info" (menu button) you can find your remote "code", which is what you program the Sat handle with. There is a way to reset it if you have absolutely no remote by resetting the DVR and turning it back on. This was hard for me to figure out (fyi, ours was "9"). Once you be sure what your code is, hold the SAT button down until all the buttons blink, enter the code, and press paste. Easy peezy.

Works terrific
I got a reach-me-down one that didn't work, but the seller turned right around and replaced it with one that works great. You can disassemble these things at the side (two-sided shot), clean any moisture out of them, snap back together and chances are good they'll work (I now have three others working again). Moisture gets into them and they shorten-circuit.

It was much higher than we expected.Later, I checked Amazon and found the same reserved for less than twenty-five ($25). It was simple to "set up" and works great!

I dont have line of sight for a satellite inauguration from Dish Network. The view is blocked by other apartments and trees, but the direction of the patio is exquisite. Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem?

I have installed a satellite dish not far away from a powerline. Im not getting a very good signal. The power line is not in the line of sight for the dish. Could the power line be afecting it??
yes the power words could be affecting it but not likely ive installed dish network for 6 years and out of thousands ive seen a only a combine affected by this i would say it just needs to be realigned maybe the mount is loose or was decent poorly installed
