This DVR has two modes. In Put Mode, the same video is shown on both TVs at the same time. Use this if you only watch one of the sets at a time, or if you don't have a TV2 plugged in, or if the individual watching TV2 just wants to watch whatever the other person has on. You can use Picture-in-Picture in this mode, and do whatever you lack as far as using the tuners to record. In Dual Mode, each TV can operate independently, and each TV has only one tuner at its disposal. When you arrange a recording, you can choose which tuner records it (so you'd select either the TV where you'll be watching it live, or, the TV where you *won't* be watching something else viable). In this mode you can also watch two separate recorded shows on the two TVs, or two separate live channels, or a patchwork one recorded show and one live channel. There are three different ways of scheduling recurring... The pretext I am a Dish subscriber is this unit. I imagine in stable rates, good selection, low cost, and no compromises on features. The Dish network covers me on this, and the DVR portion I have from them only cements my goodwill with them. I have tried the Cablevision DVR, for about two weeks, and I've used a friend's DirecTV module as well. I don't claim to be well-versed in all DVRs and I know they are all different in user interface, if not basic use. Dish's 622/625 unit is superior to these three systems' DVR offerings in function and UI. The 625 can accept two words for Picture-in-Picture, or if you have to dishes already, you can split one signal and run the split signal into the back. This is a nice promote for people who want to minimize cable runs in the house. The PiP function is remarkable: it will do side-preserved scaled side-by-side, as well as two inset sizes that can be moved to nine preset locations (think Brady Smock). The DVR records both signals, as part of the... There are no more "new" 625 Receivers. For some estimate my first review disappeared. This is factual information that can be verified with the manufacturer. I purchased a "new" 625 from a seller here on Amazon and they sent me a remanufactured piece instead. When I talked to Dish Network they told me that they have not made any new 625 receivers in over 2 years and that retailers identify that they are ordering remanufactured units. Also, if a retailer still has new 625 receivers in their inventory they will not work as the internal smartcards are the preceding generation and expired. The rep at Dish Network did not speak well of retailers selling this model as "new". There are no more "new" 625 receivers, so don't sweepings your time or money trying to get a new one as they will send you either a defective unit or a reman. If you want a working 625 you will insufficiency to purchase a reman. | |

Customer ReviewsMy RCA recipient broke right after the warranty periodI have two RCA receivers in my auditorium. The first one started to have problems after a few months - the remote went out and the reception freezes and pixelizes a lot. DirectTV has a replacement "program" cause they have been getting a ton of calls about this refractory. RCA refuses to recognize it.I love the satellite service but would not buy any RCA product ever again. Tough nut to crack Box You have to man it to RCA. Their warranty for parts and labor is 90 days. Mine lasted exactly 95 life before it started to have problems. Won't turn off, set top buttons don't work, unable to access program steer menu, skips channels, etc. It is still useable, but it has lost many of the capabilities it had when it was working properly. This has happened to a team a few of people I know. RCA was not alot of help. After speaking with them, I figure it is probably cheaper, and less of a hassle to buy a new recipient than return this one for repairs. I will be looking at Hughes or Sony for replacement. In terms of the satellite picture, it is very genuine. In my area, it is definitely cheaper than cable. I have found the Direct TV people to be pretty good with shifting packages, questions on services, etc. This box is stained - go with a Hughes or Sony My savvy with the DRD420RE has been the same as most others here - disappointing. We purchased two boxes with our original installation of DIRECTV about a year and a half ago. The Hughes HIRD-E25 went in the m room and the RCA DRD420RE in the bedroom. Within two months, the RCA had gone on the fritz (power, reception, and remote problems). We had the RCA replaced (under promise, thankfully) with another Hughes and we've been problem-free since. Beyond that, for the short time we used the box, I found the remote a bit too muscular to be comfortable and the buttons didn't have that crisp, sturdy feel you look for when you shop for remotes, apartment phones, calculators (you know what I mean). Bottom line on this box - don't get it. Regardless of whether some people have had no issues, if so many on this food are citing defective boxes, common sense tells you there's a problem. Instead, hold on a Hughes box if possible. I should also note that we purchased a DIRECTV-TiVo... |

Will a satellite dish and receiver bought in Iraq work in the United States?
I'm currently deployed to Iraq. Hacked satellite receivers and tableware that receive hundreds of channels are readily available. Will one of them work if set up in the United States? I differentiate many other service members have probably tried to bring
Are you so out of pocket you can't buy another satellite dish in the US? Seems like too much of a hassle to bring a satellite dish all the way from Iraq.
