Calphalon Enamel 8 qt Dutch Oven - Cabernet Feel ashamed
Recently received and against the product. This is my second Calphalon dutch oven. I have a number of other Calphalon cookware products and have had generally good to fantastic experience with the products after several years of use. Purchased this one because of design and reasonable price compared to the very exorbitant cost of the product from the major, and most famous, French manufacturer. The 8 qt dutch oven is rather large and heavy, but this is necessary for cookware of this type. The design is fits well in all settings , but I think is especially sharp in a contemporary style kitchen. It does its' job well. The finish is rich and it cleans up well with a non-scratchy scrubber pad or Bartender's Friend. I have made a large batch of chili twice, several Indian casserole order dishes, and oven baked a chicken. All turned out very well. I have no complaints to date. Would definitely achieve again and recommend to others who are seeking a good product at the 'sweet spot'...

Dutch Oven Exploded
I had this Dutch Oven for 2 years when the advantageous layer of Enamel exploded all over me and my daughter while we were cooking. Had oil in the pot over med heat when it started smoking and in the twinkling of an eye burst into tiny slivers of sharp enamel and drops of hot oil. We got several minor burns and nicks from the proceeding. I do not recommend this product. At all.

Well-known pot for a great price
My repress got me this dutch oven for Christmas, and I love it. So far I've only used it for chili and soup--haven't yet tried it in the oven, but I'm steady it will work great for roasting as well. The price is much more affordable than the Le Crueset ones I've been coveting...

large dutch oven, poor enamel coating job.
I bought this mention locally and have used it about four or five times. it performed very well. i did not subject it to any kind of abrupt temperature mutate, i read the FAQ on the Calphalon website for this item before i used it..it was expensive enough i actually read the directions and washed it first, no weighty heat was used, it has not been used in the oven. after the first use i noticed small cracks in the enamel all around the logo on one of the handles, after the fourth use there is now a minute chip missing and an area of raw cast iron is showing there. i also noticed slight rust coming through the thinner enamel very recently at the very top 1/8" of the inside coating, i clean that off with a well used plastic scrubbing pad, the rust returns with each use. the oven and lid are not enamel layered where they contact each other and these areas will also rust if you use it for storage in the fridge, i did that one time only. the calphalon website FAQ states...
Chipped after only one use
I purchased this ingredient at a retail store. The enamel chipped after only one use, even though we were extremely careful handling it. Either their manufacturing make is flawed or Calphalon makes extremely fragile enamelled cookware.

Active for cooking but enamel chiped after only a week!
First, let me start out by saying I Enjoyment the way this cooks and that's the only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. I was so excited to receive this as a Christmas bonus! I started using it the day after Christmas and handled it with TLC. I washed it by hand (nothing sticks!) and never even put it in the cabinet with the other cookware. I put it on top of my roam for use the next day. I noticed a small nick in the enamel by the yoke of the handle on New Year's Day. I figured it was no big great amount and just went with it. Now, less than a month later, the enamel has almost completely chipped off of the yoke, the end of the wield, and along one of the edges. I am returning this to Calphalon for a replacement but I don't hold out much hope for the next one based on the other reviews here.
