Corelle is the get the better of!
I bought this to refund a set of Corelle dinnerware we've had over 15 years. The old set start getting gray and streaky as if the years of utensils against the integument in daily use finally took a toll. When I decided to replace that set, I had no doubt that it would be with another set of Corelle. It is lightweight, dishwasher and microwave timely, is thin enough to not stack too high in the cabinet, and it stays nice looking even with heavy use. This set arrived well crammed, the Corelle box and bubble packing inside another box, and everything was intact. The plates are really big! We will probably end up using the lunch plates as formal meal plates sometimes. The bowls also have a very large capacity, easily two cups. One main difference between this set and my old one is the coffee cups are not the same fabric as the dishes... they used to be made of the same 'vitrelle' and now are porcelain. I like the new ones better; they have a smidgin more heft and keep...
    Only one uninspired fault
I young lady these plates - they are attractive and durable. In particular, the cups and bowls are good, practical sizes. My one beef is that the black stripes are a different finish and rougher texture from the rest of the plate. On when a fork scrapes across one, we all get spine-tingles! If you are sensitive to this, you probably want to choose a novel style. But I do highly recommend Corelle in general. My 5-yr-old cannot seem to destroy them (and he does try).
I have had this prototype for over a year
I as a matter of fact liked this pattern when it came out and immediately bought 2 sets. I am here to buy another (always compare prices).I had Corelle increasing up and liked the lightweight nature of it and the durability. However, the patterns were not so hot for a while. The newer patterns are great! I gave my old serving dishes to a college-bound relative when I got these. It was just too hard on my hands lifting 4 stacked stoneware plates from the diswasher to the cupboard.FYI, and stoneware/porcelain/stoneware dishes with chips should be discarded as dirt/bacteria can get into the unglazed part and you can't get it out. I don't like taking chances with my family's sanctuary. I have never chipped a Corelle dish. My mother did drop one at walmart and it shattered into about a zillion shards, so it is achievable. The only bummer about this set is that the mugs ARE NOT corelle glass. They match but are ceramic. My old set had corelle mugs. The surface does look slightly...

Corelle Livingware 16-Rebuke Set, Service for 4, includes 4-each 10-1/4-inch Dinner Plates, 6-3/4-inch Currency and Butter Plates, 18-ounce Soup/Cereal Bowls, 11-ounce Stoneware Mugs, Winter Rime
Since Corelle is distinguished for producing dinnerware and bakeware that cannot be broken or chipped, it's hard to resist holding a plate without poor to drop it on the tile floor to see what happens. While Corelle doesn't recommend home tests, this cool 16-piece dinnerware set is still fairly indestructible and is a real asset for busy families. Livingware is unexacting to maintain as it's dishwasher-, microwave- and oven-safe and is never off-limits for small children to use and hilt because of its light weight and durability.

The set is comprised of four 10-1/4-inch dinner plates, four 6-3/4-inch currency-and-butter plates, four 18-ounce bowls, and four 11-ounce mugs. Plates and plates are all made of Corelle's signature material, Vitrelle, which is created from three layers of glass that are compressed under ultimate heat and laminated for strength. On the other hand, the mugs in this set are crafted of Corelle's stoneware, which is in actuality breakable and has a heavier feel than Vitrelle. For diners who recall Corelle patterns as being dyed with rather cutesy floral and fruit patterns, this simple, pure white pattern is inevitable to appeal to their modern preferences. Livingware plates and bowls sport a relaxed and rimless coupe cast and are all stackable for more efficient storage. Corelle warrants this dinnerware pattern against cracks, chips, breakage, and staining for a full year from the girl of purchase. --Cristina Vaamonde

    Unmitigated product
It says a lot about a spin-off like this when it's been continuously available since 1970. I've owned Corelle for most of the past 30 years. I recently bought a 17-portion set from Wal-Mart (same as this + a 1-quart serving bowl) for about $24 to replace some Corelle pieces that didn't tourney my Winter Frost pieces and to have more place settings. The mugs are cheap stoneware made in Thailand, not Corelle. They don't truly match the Corelle and they're going to the Goodwill along with the mismatched plates and bowls, but it was still a good parcel out for the rest of the set.I love Corelle. All Corelle looks as if it was stamped out of a sheet of white spyglass, which is a result of the way it's made. There are no "base rings" or loop handles (which is why there have never been any Corelle mugs). The design makes Corelle very foolproof to wash and dry. They're very thin, and they stack with virtually no extra space in between them so they use remarkably little cubbard margin. A stack of ten...
Corelle products employed to be unbreakable, not anymore...
Got a 42 breeze scolding set of Livingware in winter frost white for xmas. The plates are nice and look best on a red tablecloth, though a few were slightly warped (you can see it when plates are stacked). However, that was not such a problem as the cups, which are of terrible nobility! I did not use cups on xmas and first used them today. When I took the mugs out from a box one had a barely visible rift on a side, which I did not see until poured water into it and water started sipping through the crack. Called Corelle for bond, and they do not warranty cups! So much for a 3 year warranty! On their site and on the box it says 3 year warranty with no asterisk or new disclaimers, but in the care instructions! there is a fine print that cups are not covered. I used to like Corelle and solicitude recollections they were a reputable company, but not anymore. They outsourced cup manufacturing to Thailand and now make them out of stoneware, which is somewhat much like glass. So, if you think you are buying...
Didn't pay much, but usefulness every penny.
First of all, I have to say that I've now received three abundant shipments of Corelle from Amazon and two of the boxes have been mangled beyond belief. Amazingly, the dishes have all been cute. But I wouldn't be surprised if others have received broken plates. The set itself is just what I've been looking for, something lightweight and enduring that can handle my 4 year old's abuse. My stoneware plates are all cracked and my melamine plates smell queer after a run through the dishwasher, but these Corelle plates are perfect. I love how well they stack. They take up very little room. And the mugs I received are dead white. The white is slightly different from the plates because they're stoneware, not glass. But they are definitely whiter than the dead ringer suggests. And mine are made by Corelle. It says so right on the bottom. So maybe they've improved the mugs after all the complaints. I would hugely recommend this set to anyone with small children. And you might want to add some of the...

    Hideous melamine plates
Do not buy these! They are altogether breakable, stain easily, and are really thin--not like the melamine I expected.
    They don't last
I've employed these bowls for about 2 years, and they are cracking and falling apart at the base. I own other Melamine bowls from Target that are holding up consummately, as new as the day I got them 3 years ago. This particular bowl is just plain poor.
    Not good the money
Ill-fated make and description does not state that the bowls are not microwave safe. Don't waste your heretofore or your money.
