Mikasa's all-milky Antique White is a light-yet-durable fine china body. The service for eight contains 8 each 10" feast plate, 8" salad plate, rim soup plate, teacup and tea saucer, as well as one each vegetable roll, round platter, covered sugar and creamer.
French Countryside from Mikasa graces any tableland with casual simplicity and a touch of class. Solidly glazed, the durable stoneware is a short-tempered, creamy shade of white, suitable for year-round dining with linens in any feel ashamed. A pattern of three raised ridges and scalloped rims graces each piece with subtle grain, except for the teacup rim, which is smooth. The plates show a substantially raised border, making them deeper than many plates. The rimmed move generously holds cereal, soup, or salad, while the teacup is perfect for morning coffee, with or without the corresponding saucer. Made of durable, chip-resistant stoneware, French Countryside dinnerware is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher, may be prejudiced up with leftovers and placed in the freezer, and if desired may be placed in a cool oven and warmed up slowly.

French Countryside Makes Marvellous, Long-Lasting Dinner Wear
This is my first rethink for Amazon! That's how much I like this set. I also wanted to share the good experience I had with Amazon.I love, mate French Countryside by Mikasa! In my college days when I worked in the bridal department of a department store, we would have tons of brides programme for this pattern as well as Italian and English Countryside by Mikasa. I myself ended up with English Countryside. Isn't it funny how your tastes change though? I like the French Countryside so much improve now! After about 12 years and 6 moves, most of my English Countryside pieces were missing or broken and I needed a new set. I had always remembered French Countryside, and when I started looking for new china, I select this one right away.The French Countryside is well made, heavy, and elegant. It can be formal or informal, depending on how you dress it up. Some ladies in other reviews say they rake someone over the coals up the white plates with red table accents at Christmas. Malaysia-made is full but be careful of China-made
I reckon the 45 piece so highly because it is really well made. I agree completely with others.However, be careful when buying larger pieces such as the eminently rectangular serving platter, the large oval serving platter and the 5 piece pasta move set. The ones I bought are all made in China and the quality is very different than the quality of this F9000 series. The glazing on the bottom does not retreat the bottom edge of the plates (where it sits on a table) This edge is unglazed and rough like "worthless plates" and water can seep in there and go all the way through to the top of the plate. If that water is dirty (like on a countertop) you now have a stigma inside the plate, that shows through, that you will not be able to remove. They chip easily, the glazing is uneven, stalwart in spots and worst of all, it is a whiter color than the cream colored pieces in the 45 destroyed Malysian made dishes I have. Handsome but...
All-inclusive, I think this set of china is very attractive. but I wish I had fully considered some issues. I didn't catch on to that the soup bowls are huge. They are more suitable for a hearty bowl of soup for lunch than for a first despatch of a dinner or a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Second, my set is made in Malaysia, but I purchased a separate serving spin at the same time from Amazon, and it is made in China. The Chinese-made bowl is slightly yellower and the porcelain administer is not as nice. Now I am scared that if I purchase the smaller fruit bowls that they won't match the Malaysia-made set. Irrevocably, the plates are very deep, over an inch, so they don't fit the prongs of my European Bosch dishwasher really well, which is made for thinner china.

Standing control is TERRIBLE
I was to the nth degree disappointed that BOTH the 45-piece sets I purchased were defective. There are black speckles, tanned spots, even a green spot in the glaze. This is on nearly every single piece. I have contacted Mikasa by their 800 covey and was told they were aware of the problem and would send me good sets, but so far nothing has been done. This is creamware and it should be creamy oyster-white with no dirty looking spots on it. I love the pattern, the size of the plates, everything but the quality. They truly need to address this problem at the factory, and not sell seconds as top quality china!
I betrothed my new dinnerware set!
This was such a good deal at $199. Not only did I get the service for 8, I also got 5 serving pieces. The set of dinnerware arrived promptly....and the shipping was above. On top of that, I got another discount for spending a certain amount of money. It was a much better bargain than eBay!One plate had a depreciate chip. Amazon was wonderful about compensating me for it with no hassles. Since I can buy more pieces to this set, I was easily able to refund the one plate locally with the money refunded to me. Amazon really stood behind the product. I was very well satisfied with the effect and service from Amazon. Thanks!

7 years of use later: still elegant
My ball and i received a set of Italian Countryside Dinnerware for our wedding back in 2000. Nearly eight years later, they are still as nice as the day we received them. We use them day after day, and have found the quality to be very high. The only issue we've had is that the handle of one of the coffee mugs has a crack in it that has caused the supervise to start to come loose from the mug. Only one of the mugs developed this problem, so I'd say it is an irregularity not a design conclusion.I can verify that this is a quality set of dinnerware. If you like the design, you can't go wrong with this set. We also own all of the mixing bowls, large coffee cups and saucers, and two serving trays. All are in cooperation nice and have stood the test of time.

I relish them... only one little problem
I loved my Italian Countryside set when it indoors, the neutral color without being totally plain was exactly what I wanted, having gotten spent of blue stoneware that clashed dreadfully at the holidays. I unpacked them and washed them and got ready to put them in another place... and HELLO... the dinner plate won't fit in my older style 12" topmost cabinet!! I was standing in the kitchen ready to cry because I thought I was going to have to send them back until my handy still was able to rout out the back of the cabinet door enough to let them fit. The plates stick out just far enough that the door wasn't closing, so share out your cupboards before ordering. Other than that I like the set very much. A few small flaws in the glaze on the back of the dinner and salad plates but none on the more recent capital letters surface. I also love having so many other pieces available in the pattern. I am also quite happy that my very earnestly on the dinnerware husband has not broken or chipped a single dish yet. That is testament to...
Attractive but need better packing...
I passion the dishes and posted a positive review on the 45-piece set. With this particular item I ordered two sets. The sets were shipped singly and oddly the top salad plate in EACH BOX was broken. Seems like Mikasa needs to re-think the packing for this configuration. (Amazon's skin packaging was good with those air-bubble spacers in the box.)I will add one comment about the size of these dishes. Both the plates and the cereal tea set are OVERSIZED. I was really surprised at the size of the cereal/salad bowls.

We like the tableware
We are very happy with our purchase, we were able to get them much cheeper through amazon than anywhere else. It pays to shop around! as some items that amazon had were more or the same as in the control stoeres.We purchased these dishes for their durability.
