These dishes were joined a few years ago by my husband's black stoneware dishware, and I quickly realized that food looked a LOT better on his dishes. Since that time, the menfolk (soften & 14 y/o stepson) have chipped, cracked or otherwise broken several pieces of my dinnerware set. Thus upon a recent significant birthday, I undeniable I was going to buy myself a new set of dinnerware as a present.I loved the way food looked on the black plates, and wanted serving dishes colorful enough to stand up to my deep red dining room. The dishes had to be tough enough to stand up to the menfolk, be dishwasher clubby and microwave safe. I soon settled on Fiestaware. I loved the assortment of colors and serving pieces and the conceivability of mixing and matching colors and pieces. A big plus was the variety of places to order them online, allowing me to sidestep the dreaded mall. I did make one trip to a local kitchen store to... I disposition this stuff! I absolutely love this stuff. When I got married my husband was unwilling to part with his old chipped dishes. Over years of looking at dissimilar dishes, he found a reason for rejecting them all--wrong color, wrong shape, wrong documentation, etc. Finally I presented him with this (in Cobalt) and we found something we could agree on!No question that this was worth waiting for. It is very durable, with no chipping problems. It's heavyweight and appealing, so even without formal china (and who really uses that anymore?) we can still set a lovely table... Advantage it shares one big advantage with formal china--a huge array of matching completer pieces. Even change one's mind, you can find it in department stores everywhere. Open stock is readily available, so even if I did manage to break one I could undoubtedly replace it. I also find it fun to constantly see the same dinnerware I use at home on the table in restaurants and in TV shows/commercials.I bought a best exclusive five piece setting, which is... This is NOT a whack-off. For those of you that are new to the Fiesta Ware obtain by Homer Laughlin Corporation (HLC), this is NOT a knock-off of the original production. This new line of Fiesta Ware - manufactured by HLC - is at the start produced with the original molds used to produce the product for over the past 60 years or so. New Fiesta Ware is made of a vitrifed china which requires a higher gunfire temperature than the oringal line which was made of semi-vitrified china. Vitrified china appeals to the restaurant application, a large part of HLC's customer base. (Next time you are in a restaurant, peek under the plate to see the name of the manufacturer - it will all things considered be HLC!) However, to accomodate shrinkages caused by the higher temperature, mold changes had to be done to the lids and 10.5" plates. Restaurants use Fiesta Ware and other HLC china because of its stamina. I have been using the new Fiesta Ware for every meal, every day for the past 13 years and have only broken a few things...

New pieces and colors are added every so often to keep things interesting. Currently, Fiesta is the most comfortable dinnerware in America.Customer ReviewsFor all time, a handle fit for human beings! If you've bought Fiestaware flourish settings in the past, you've surely noticed the awkward shape of the coffee mugs of yore. The old ones had a small ring of a handle that few adults could use comfortably. While the art deco design is lovely, using the old mugs was gloomy and not the comforting "morning coffee" experience we've come to expect from no-nonsense diner mugs.Anyway, Fiestaware has at the last moment taken note and given us a proper mug with a proper handle... and it's a realistic mass, too, not like the cartoonishly oversized jumbo mug which is more suited for soup or cereal than coffee. Yay for the Java Mug! not 12 oz This is not a 12oz mug as advertised. It is a yardstick small 10oz mug into which you can get ~11oz if you fill it to near the top. Okay mugs, but doesn't keep coffee hot for crave. Not unwavering why, but coffee does not stay hot long in these. Comfortable handles though.

Customer ReviewsHow to get rid of scratches on FiestawareI have a strain of dinnerware that's very similar to Fiesta, Metlox Colorstax, and it gets knifemarks the way people are describing getting on Fiestaware. To get them off, I secure a paste of Bon Ami cleanser & water, rub the paste all over the scratched parts of dish, leave the paste on for several minutes to half an hour, scrub the dish, then clean it off. The knife marks disappear to a great extent because they are *on* the glaze, not cut into it. I imagine this would work as well with Fiestaware as it does Colorstax. Fun and hard-wearing but not perfect We purchased our Fiestaware set in cobalt two years ago. Inclusive, we have been very satisfied: no breaks or chips whatsoever. The color is as deep and bright as the first day, even though we are constantly putting it in the dishwasher. We only have two issues with the set. One is that there are scratches unmistakable if you tilt the plates into the light. It is disappointing that scratches would show from ordinary use with a fork and knife. An further complaint is that when we use them in the microwave, the plate/bowl becomes very hot, long before the food is cooked. We get by using a hot pad or oven mit when handling the dish, but be advised that you may have need of to heat up the food longer than with other dishes. In spite of these two problems, however, we intend to keep these dishes forever, or obsolete them onto family who need a spare. They are VERY durable, aside from the scratches. Overwhelming!! I can't say enough honourable things about fiestaware, I'maddicted!! The colors are so great, I really love thispersimmon, but the sunflower , prize, periwinkle andturquoise are pretty as well. Another great thing isthe durability, I have never had a chip or abrade andI'm pretty tough on dishes. Also, I am impressedwith Amazon, they have great customer mending! |
