These dishes were joined a few years ago by my husband's black stoneware saucers, and I quickly realized that food looked a LOT better on his dishes. Since that time, the menfolk (whisper suppress & 14 y/o stepson) have chipped, cracked or otherwise broken several pieces of my dinnerware set. Thus upon a recent significant birthday, I evident I was going to buy myself a new set of dinnerware as a present.I loved the way food looked on the black plates, and wanted saucers colorful enough to stand up to my deep red dining room. The dishes had to be tough enough to stand up to the menfolk, be dishwasher brotherly and microwave safe. I soon settled on Fiestaware. I loved the assortment of colors and serving pieces and the prospect of mixing and matching colors and pieces. A big plus was the variety of places to order them online, allowing me to circumvent the dreaded mall. I did make one trip to a local kitchen store to... I admiration this stuff! I at the end of the day love this stuff. When I got married my husband was unwilling to part with his old chipped dishes. Over years of looking at divers dishes, he found a reason for rejecting them all--wrong color, wrong shape, wrong bodily, etc. Finally I presented him with this (in Cobalt) and we found something we could agree on!No question that this was worth waiting for. It is very durable, with no chipping problems. It's heavyweight and attractive, so even without formal china (and who really uses that anymore?) we can still set a lovely table... Gain it shares one big advantage with formal china--a huge array of matching completer pieces. Even cured, you can find it in department stores everywhere. Open stock is readily available, so even if I did manage to break one I could easily replace it. I also find it fun to recurrently see the same dinnerware I use at home on the table in restaurants and in TV shows/commercials.I bought a special exclusive five token setting, which is... This is NOT a debate-off. For those of you that are new to the Fiesta Ware policy by Homer Laughlin Corporation (HLC), this is NOT a knock-off of the original production. This new line of Fiesta Ware - manufactured by HLC - is particularly produced with the original molds used to produce the product for over the past 60 years or so. New Fiesta Ware is made of a vitrifed china which requires a higher gunfire temperature than the oringal line which was made of semi-vitrified china. Vitrified china appeals to the restaurant bustle, a large part of HLC's customer base. (Next time you are in a restaurant, peek under the plate to see the name of the manufacturer - it will indubitably be HLC!) However, to accomodate shrinkages caused by the higher temperature, mold changes had to be done to the lids and 10.5" plates. Restaurants use Fiesta Ware and other HLC china because of its hardihood. I have been using the new Fiesta Ware for every meal, every day for the past 13 years and have only broken a few things... | |

Currently, Fiesta is the most collected dinnerware in America.First introduced in 1936 by the Homer Laughlin China Actors and reissued in 1986 to mark the 50th anniversary of the line, colorful Fiestaware has been a collectable dinnerware favorite for generations. While imaginative Fiestaware can fetch prices as high as $6,000 for a rare piece in a rare go red in the face, new Fiestaware is affordable, features the same great styling as the originals, and, unlike older pieces, has a 100 percent example-free glaze. With the signature Fiestaware concentric rings around the plate rim and a rich cobalt obscene color, these plates complement Fiestaware dinnerware and accessories in cobalt or other colors. The glaze is nonporous and permanent, but some stainless-steel flatware may leave marks on the plates. These marks can be removed with a nonabrasive cleanser. --Emily Wolf Customer ReviewsExtended LastingWe use these plates where I employment and they are awesome. I work in an assisted living facility and these dishes are used in the Alzheimer's space. Things in that area have to be durable and for the price most of the people who live there are playing, they have to be classy. Fiesta makes both of those practical.I don't know how many times these plates have fallen to the floor, but very few end up broken. Though they are a bit costly, you wouldn't have to fritter away a lot of money replacing them or time looking for a matching color or pattern. Genuine stuff When I was first married 28 years ago and registering housewares preferences at the adjoining department store, my father teased me about choosing fine china and what he called "throwing china", the unexceptional stuff. Well, if anybody every throws Fiestaware at you, duck! Good, strong, sturdy baggage. I have had better luck buying the open stock pieces than buying sets -- the glaze in some of the plates in sets has been weakened. I get both cobalt and periwinkle, and have found that the cobalt shows flaws more readily than the lighter color.Collecting two colors is fun. There are some colors that I impartial don't want to eat off of, but blue makes everything look tasty. Cobalt seems to present food more meaningfully, but periwinkle makes for a nice "blue plate special" too. Catchy & Durable I bought these plates and point that they are great. I really wish that I wouldn't have bought the cheaper look-a-likes before I bought these.I like the pastel redden and how it coordinates with the other Fiesta colors. These plates are also very durable. I've broken several of the look-a-likes just from conformist around the home accidents, but the Fiesta is holding steady.Don't waste your time or money looking at all the personal dishes. Go with Fiesta! |
