Scrumptious Colors, Meticulous Shapes, Pesky Production Flaws!
I've had the same set of whey-faced porcelain dinnerware for 18 years. These dishes were joined a few years ago by my husband's black stoneware serving dishes, and I quickly realized that food looked a LOT better on his dishes. Since that time, the menfolk (whisper suppress & 14 y/o stepson) have chipped, cracked or otherwise broken several pieces of my dinnerware set. Thus upon a recent significant birthday, I resolute I was going to buy myself a new set of dinnerware as a present.I loved the way food looked on the black plates, and wanted serving dishes colorful enough to stand up to my deep red dining room. The dishes had to be tough enough to stand up to the menfolk, be dishwasher amicable and microwave safe. I soon settled on Fiestaware. I loved the assortment of colors and serving pieces and the admissibility opportunity of mixing and matching colors and pieces. I remarkably love this stuff. When I got married my husband was unwilling to part with his old chipped dishes. Over years of looking at rare dishes, he found a reason for rejecting them all--wrong color, wrong shape, wrong stuff, etc. Finally I presented him with this (in Cobalt) and we found something we could agree on!No question that this was worth waiting for. It is very durable, with no chipping problems. It's heavyweight and handsome, so even without formal china (and who really uses that anymore?) we can still set a lovely table... Bonus it shares one big advantage with formal china--a huge array of matching completer pieces. Even greater, you can find it in department stores everywhere. Open stock is readily available, so even if I did manage to break one I could smoothly replace it. For those of you that are new to the Fiesta Ware direction by Homer Laughlin Corporation (HLC), this is NOT a knock-off of the original production. This new line of Fiesta Ware - manufactured by HLC - is at the start produced with the original molds used to produce the product for over the past 60 years or so. New Fiesta Ware is made of a vitrifed china which requires a higher gunfire temperature than the oringal line which was made of semi-vitrified china. Vitrified china appeals to the restaurant earnestness, a large part of HLC's customer base. (Next time you are in a restaurant, peek under the plate to see the name of the manufacturer - it will in all probability be HLC!) However, to accomodate shrinkages caused by the higher temperature, mold changes had to be done to the lids and 10.5" plates. Restaurants use Fiesta Ware and other HLC china because of its stamina. I have been using the new Fiesta Ware for every meal, every day for the past 13 years and have only broken a few things...

Sometimes, take the measure of does matter...
I'm with the hubby on a above-mentioned review. It's advertised as being an 18 oz. mug and it is most definitely NOT. Using a Pyrex measuring cup I found my mug holds 14 oz. A half cup exclusive of makes a big difference. Looks-wise it's okay, but it is too small for my purposes. I feel Euphemistic pre-owned.

MISLEADING ON SEVERAL COUNTS
These mugs are a unfulfilment, the colors and the size are inaccurate in the listing. I ordered these in plum, tangerine, peacock, and scarlet.First off, the colors are very muted, not rosy like in the pictures. Scarlet is more like a deep milky watermelon,Tangerine is rattle-brained and milky. The Plum and Peacock are darker than pictured.None of them will hold 18 oz.The bowl of the scarlet cup is visibly larger than the other three, but even it only holds (up to the smooth top) 17 oz. The maximum any of them hold comfortably is about 15 oz.There are flaws in the pottery and the glazing as well. The scarlet and Tangerine handles are moderately crooked. There are white spots at first I thought were chips on the lip of the plum mug, but they are glazing issues. The Red and coup inside handles have what may have been bubbles in the glaze that are now rough dots/spots on the inside of the handles, which will be irritating while holding them over...
Smaller than advertised
These mugs rabbit 16 ounces if filled to the brim, rather than the advertised 18 ounces. It is irksome, because I bought a set of these to put back an old set of 18 ounce Gibson ceramic mugs that we use for everything from cereal to soup. The Fiesta mugs are well made, glitzy, and easy to handle. I will keep them because the Gibson mugs don't seem to be made anymore. I would rate the mugs 5 stars, but my huband is contemporary to gripe about the smaller size. Sigh.

A must own thing for the California kitchen
Turquoise. Periwinkle and Yellow are the colours of this server that we have. Set back between 6-8 cups of salad and pasta etc. Thick so it holds food hot or cold depending on the option. The lid is beautifully shaped and just high enough to not squish the food inside. And the subtle rim on the dirty makes it a sturdy no tip over items. Easy to lift and hand off to the person next to you because the sides are sloped a moment ago right to prevent you from dropping it.

I have purchased a lot of Fiestaware on assemble. Some pieces through Amazon. This particular piece did not meet my expectations. The inside of the lid was oddly warped. It left side me wondering if I had received a factory second?

I got the turquoise 70-ounce casserole (with lid) as a bonus for my sister in law and she loves it. We all love the Fiestaware dishes - they are beautiful and hold up well! We have yet to break one and whenever anyone brings a dish to the deeply, we joke about misplacing that one so that it stays there! It's a wonderful dish. I'd highly recommend any Fiestaware work.
