Scrumptious Colors, Fine Shapes, Pesky Production Flaws!
I've had the same set of Caucasoid porcelain dinnerware for 18 years. These dishes were joined a few years ago by my husband's black stoneware serving dishes, and I quickly realized that food looked a LOT better on his dishes. Since that time, the menfolk (tranquillity & 14 y/o stepson) have chipped, cracked or otherwise broken several pieces of my dinnerware set. Thus upon a recent significant birthday, I decisive I was going to buy myself a new set of dinnerware as a present.I loved the way food looked on the black plates, and wanted tableware colorful enough to stand up to my deep red dining room. The dishes had to be tough enough to stand up to the menfolk, be dishwasher simpatico and microwave safe. I soon settled on Fiestaware. I loved the assortment of colors and serving pieces and the chance of mixing and matching colors and pieces. I rapture this stuff!
I in reality love this stuff. When I got married my husband was unwilling to part with his old chipped dishes. Over years of looking at original dishes, he found a reason for rejecting them all--wrong color, wrong shape, wrong important, etc. Finally I presented him with this (in Cobalt) and we found something we could agree on!No question that this was worth waiting for. It is very durable, with no chipping problems. It's heavyweight and superior, so even without formal china (and who really uses that anymore?) we can still set a lovely table... Addition it shares one big advantage with formal china--a huge array of matching completer pieces. Even control superiors, you can find it in department stores everywhere. Open stock is readily available, so even if I did manage to break one I could well replace it. This is NOT a bowl over-off.
For those of you that are new to the Fiesta Ware vanguard by Homer Laughlin Corporation (HLC), this is NOT a knock-off of the original production. This new line of Fiesta Ware - manufactured by HLC - is especially produced with the original molds used to produce the product for over the past 60 years or so. New Fiesta Ware is made of a vitrifed china which requires a higher gunfire temperature than the oringal line which was made of semi-vitrified china. Vitrified china appeals to the restaurant persistence, a large part of HLC's customer base. (Next time you are in a restaurant, peek under the plate to see the name of the manufacturer - it will very likely be HLC!) However, to accomodate shrinkages caused by the higher temperature, mold changes had to be done to the lids and 10.5" plates. Restaurants use Fiesta Ware and other HLC china because of its stamina. I have been using the new Fiesta Ware for every meal, every day for the past 13 years and have only broken a few things...

Fiesta is Green As responsible members of the business community Fiesta is dedicated to the safety of their customers, the continuation of natural resources, and a reduced environmental impact. They pledge to continue to make a satisfactory and reusable product free of harmful materials such as lead. Their consideration for their customer's aegis is a long standing commitment, with the removal of lead from select pieces of their line in 1986, to the ended removal of lead in all products since 1992.
Fiesta remains vigilant in the pursuit of innovation to reduce their carbon footprint on the pandemic landscape. By rerouting waste kiln heat to other processes, they are able to eliminate the operation of enough gas annually to heat nearly 1,000 homes for an entire winter. Fiesta has also implemented a earthenware reclamation system which blends back waste clay into their clay formulation at a rate of 2 tons per day. In annex, 99% of all products are made in the USA, cutting the need for overseas shipments.
Fiesta pledges to reduce their amount of resource employment, recycle what they use, and eliminate the use of natural resources when possible. In 2007, a review of their packaging official for unnecessary cardboard to be removed--this improvement cut their cardboard usage by 17 tons over the obviously of a year. In addition to the reduction of the cardboard that is used, all waste cardboard is recycled, and any new documents they purchase has a minimum of 39% recycled paper content. When innovating, Fiesta is mindful of the neglect generated in upgrading their facility. In 2006, Fiesta upgraded wastewater treatment processes, and was adept to reclaim an additional 1.2 million pounds of clear glaze, which previously would have been discarded. In 2007, they recycled over 200,000 pounds of stiffen, cardboard, and glass, and implemented a paperless order confirmation system, saving over half a million sheets of scrap in the course of 1 year.

How to get rid of scratches on Fiestaware
I have a paradigm of dinnerware that's very similar to Fiesta, Metlox Colorstax, and it gets knifemarks the way people are describing getting on Fiestaware. To get them off, I fetch a paste of Bon Ami cleanser & water, rub the paste all over the scratched parts of dish, leave the paste on for several minutes to half an hour, scrub the dish, then dye it off. The knife marks disappear to a great extent because they are *on* the glaze, not cut into it. I imagine this would work as well with Fiestaware as it does Colorstax.
Fun and lasting but not perfect
We purchased our Fiestaware set in cobalt two years ago. Blanket, we have been very satisfied: no breaks or chips whatsoever. The color is as deep and bright as the first day, even though we are constantly putting it in the dishwasher. We only have two issues with the set. One is that there are scratches unmistakable if you tilt the plates into the light. It is disappointing that scratches would show from ordinary use with a fork and knife. An new complaint is that when we use them in the microwave, the plate/bowl becomes very hot, long before the food is cooked. We get by using a hot pad or oven mit when handling the dish, but be advised that you may necessary to heat up the food longer than with other dishes. In spite of these two problems, however, we intend to keep these dishes forever, or dated them onto family who need a spare. They are VERY durable, aside from the scratches.

I can't say enough full things about fiestaware, I'maddicted!! The colors are so great, I really love thispersimmon, but the sunflower , treasure, periwinkle andturquoise are pretty as well. Another great thing isthe durability, I have never had a chip or damage andI'm pretty tough on dishes. Also, I am impressedwith Amazon, they have great customer marines!
