These are a fine size and the shape is also nice--has a smaller footprint than the round plates if you are cramped for cupboard range. They are made of the traditional thin Corelle material and are a more "shallow" plate--like the traditional Corelle plain white saucers.If you like the square shape and want a Corelle set that is a little fancier in solid white that will put on one's best bib up for formal occasions, you may want to consider the award winning Corelle Scandia White in Corelle's Ultra story. The Scandia White pattern has a fancier mold and the plates are a little deeper and thicker than this set.The notable difference in the Ultra line and this set is the Ultras are 70% thicker than the traditional Corelle and have three layers of "glass" on the wrap up dispose of instead of the one layer on this set--The Ultras have a glossier finish--elegant--and a little more weight. Attractive, elegant & practical
I extremely like the look of these square dishes. Switching from stoneware to Corelle was a good decision. They take up much less lacuna in my kitchen and it's easier to carry a whole stack of them with my arthritic hands.Because of their smaller size, we use the lunch plates more often than the formal meal plates. But we miss having the smaller bread & butter plates, so I ordered some pasture white round 6 3/4 inch plates. Disappointed that we couldn't get small on equal terms plates, but the round ones will be OK.The 22 oz. bowls are larger than most. The slight lip on the rim helps to waste them from the microwave without getting burned. Corelle doesn't heat up like stoneware.Also disappointed that the mugs are NOT Corelle field-glasses, but porcelain. They feel nice in your hand but could tip easier than most mugs.Overall I really like these plates and would buy them again!

Cups not Pure Ashen
While I liking the set...the plates are Pure White, but the cups are not. The cups are an off-white. Not an exact match.

Corelle Buttercup
I bought this dinnerware a month ago, and I give it 5 stars all around! I received the items very unhesitatingly from Amazon and everything arrived in perfect condition. The dinnerware is lightweight and durable with a lovely sprig of buttercups on it. The formal meal and luncheon plates are a generous size and their shape keeps dining neat. The corners are rounded clean and they slope down to a round center. This is very helpful when you have sauce or gravy on the plate. Rather than fall off the picture, it goes down to the center. The soup/salad plates are also square and they hold a regular can of soup nicely. The cups are undemanding to hold and they have a buttercup design on each side, which you can't see in the picture. I use this dinnerware everyday and it makes casual dining crave elegant!

Corelle Dinnerware
Very happy with the Corelle Square 16 piece Dinnerware set. We ordered two sets giving us service for eight. This set replaced another set of Corelle dinnerware that was 20+ years old and still current strong. We just wanted to update hence the replacement(but still keeping the old stuff for backup because it still looks pronounced and continues to do the job).First thing I noticed was that the pieces were just a little bit thinner than the set it replaced, beforehand will tell whether or not this will have any impact on durability. They come with an unbeatable guarantee. You break it in normal use, they supplant it. One of the dinner plates arrived with a small chip on the plates edge. One call to Corelle was all it took to have a very well wrapped replacement FedExed to us. Corelle marque dinnerware has been around a long time and we can attest to it's long term durability. Feels deceptively faint!
The CorningWare SimplyLite shipped in a deceptively chunky box; however when I picked up said box, it weighed at most one pound. It really is that light. It's quite a revolution in Corning Ware, for secure.The dimensions given on Amazon are somewhat skewed. The usable space is about 7" x 7", and it's around 2.5" esoteric. The sides have lips that extend about 1/2" outwards to provide handles, and the lid adds about an further inch in height.My SimplyLite came with a Pyrex/Glass lid. Yes, I'm still old-fashioned, and I prefer Pyrex for my lids, at least they're oven bear that way. The base CorningWare is about the same weight as my Corelle plate, it's that light. It's rather deceptive, because for an item of this size you'd have it to weigh much more, and it gives the perception of "cheap quality", although it's an excellent product. Bifocals lid broke on first use
I loved the whole understanding of a lighter, thinner dish for cooking and serving, so even though it seemed like a lot of money for one piece, I was pleased to try it. Unfortunately, the very first time I used it, to cook in the microwave, the glass shattered. And when I say shattered, I foretell many tiny pieces of glass all over my microwave. It was a major mess to clean up, and on top of that I obviously had to send my food away.Interestingly, the dish itself survived just fine, and I still use it for serving. I am disheartened that the lid broke so quickly, though, and wonder if Corningware should not recommend it be used for cooking in the microwave... possibly only for reheating?I've been trying to get in touch with their warranty dept, but they are hard to get hold of. Hopefully they will send me a new lid. I will update with whatever happens.
