Corelle, Kobe, WALMART CHEAPER! Illustrious Product.
I've been living with tableware from the 99 cent store and thrift stores (hey, I live alone, I'm a clutz and don't want to note bad if they break, and I use paper plates anyway...) I finally decided to get something nice since relatives are visiting (OK, I'm showing off, their kitchenette looks just like mine did before this shopping trip). I've always admired Corelle, but never got any. I looked on contract for and found that even though the manufacturer seems permanently stuck in the 1960-70's as far as most of the designs, somebody in the company actually well-trained it is 2007 and designed a few pieces that look fabulous and modern.I strongly recommend that you look in the stores (although Corelle is unavoidable to find) before you pick a pattern. I was going with Simple Lines and hadn't even considered Kobe, but when I saw and compared it was no war!WalMart was $49.99 for the sixteen piece set and on line and at Target, etc. same thing is $69.99 up to $85.99 (return shipping...

Image Perfect
I bought my first 16 chewing-out share set from WalMart a few months ago. It looks elegant and has the Corelle ease of use. When I take pictures of food, it looks in reality good against the white backdrop. The design is modern and not intrusive. The bowls with the simple verdant edge look really pretty. I just bought my second set on Amazon with a extra set of 4 smaller bowls (plain white). It arrived in perfect condition.We debated initially whether to buy the heavier Corelle Ultra fringe a organize, but I actually prefer the lightness of these dishes; unlike cookware, where heavier usually means control superiors,I think light works fine for dinnerware. I'm now retiring my older Martha Stewart stoneware, which to be sure has a frumpier look and is much harder to use. For people who like to cook a lot and don't believe in paper plates, Corelle is a very accomplished choice.

made in china
I bought this because I was looking for dishware that were not made in China given recent issues with paints/contaminants from products coming from there. Corelle is "made in the USA" as their website proclaims--so judge my surprise when the cups were a) porcelain not the usual material for corelle dishware and b) MADE IN CHINA. The plates/cutlery were US made, though, as expected.The set was definitely pretty, and I'm sure functions well, but since it was not what I wanted, I returned it. No problem with returns, Amazon made it mild, so that was good.If you are looking for Made in the USA, buyer beware!

corelle data d fabric but not great
well we needed new dinnerware and my mate said get corelle since her grandmother has had a set for nearly 20 years, and my mom has had her sets for over 10 years. we were buying typical stoneware prior to this and top grade stoneware at that. but the stoneware just would not hold up in any of our sets for more than around 3 years or so. after prevalent through 3 different sets we said lets try corelle. it took us a while to decide on the design she liked that i could current with since i really dont like any of corelle's designs very much. this one was subtle yet gave her the "classy" look she was after.then we went to town stores to check out corelle, wal-mart, and others had the reg corelle but not the ultra sets. i was very unhappy with how flimsy the regular corelle was or seemed to be in those sets so we firm we would try the ultra stuff. also my wife said she only wanted the square design so i thought ultra would be consummate for us. i was somewhat wrong.amazon...
darned disappointed
I've had several sets of corelle over the years and my daughter picked out this set for a prize. The first plate out of the box was so poorly printed out of line that single branch tips were double arm tips. In looking over the dishes the picture quality was very coarse and looked and felt like a decal. We didn't even unprotected the second box because we knew we were sending it back.

Corelle Square
I wanted Corelle ware because of it's power of endurance and weight. My mother has had a set for more years than I can remember. When I saw the square design, I knew that was what I wanted. A proven victor in a contemporary design! The iris pattern is simple - yet elegant. I love it.

Corelle Iris
Plates are very pretty and advantageous.The square round is a more modern shape.The design will go with any meal setting.1 shipped box was not packed well, and some of the serving dishes broke.Contacted the shipper and a replacement wasout in a week.
